About Grayson Guitars

Grayson Guitars is a small, hands on guitar shop focused on building, repairing, and refining instruments meant to be played. Every guitar that leaves the shop is approached as a working instrument, not a display piece.

Founded by Joe Davis & Robert Quick, Grayson Guitars grew out of years of real world experience repairing, setting up, and modifying guitars for players who rely on their instruments night after night. The goal has always been simple. Build and service guitars that feel familiar, play consistently, and hold up to real use.

We believe good instruments come from attention to detail, thoughtful materials, and practical decisions. Not trends. Not shortcuts. Whether it is a full repair, a setup, or a Signature Series build, the focus is always on comfort, reliability, and tone.

All work is done with the understanding that no two players are the same. Conversations matter. Use matters. The right solution is the one that makes the guitar work better for the person playing it.

Grayson Guitars is based in Illinois and operates by appointment. Every instrument is handled with care and treated as if it were our own. 

NAMESAKE: 

Grayson Guitars is named after Grayson, Joe Davis’s son.

The name reflects what the shop is built around. Craft done with care, work meant to last, and instruments made with the understanding that they may outlive the person who built them. Every decision, from materials to methods, is made with longevity in mind.

Grayson Guitars is not about trends or quick turnover. It is about doing the work right, standing behind it, and building instruments that players can rely on for years to come.

The name is a reminder of why the work matters and who it is ultimately for.
